Hand-braided, Panama look, Mexican genes You could easily mistake this lightweight bespoke shoe for a sandal. Or the other way round. But one thing is for sure: Sandal makers in Mexico have a long tradition of making very similar braided shoes. And just like other country-style strap sandals, they are called huaraches there.

We makePanamafor you from the best leather in elaborate handwork. Forefoot and instep are completely enclosed by the braided upper, and even the heel part is not a simple cap, or counter, but consists of several straps passed through a leather, so that the heel cap appears as a small-scale set of cascading leather straps.

No matter whether you call it a shoe or a sandal: Panama goes well with summer, but maybe more with long pants or a long skirt, depending on who we made this shoe – or sandal – for. Combined with casual, but not too leisurely clothing, the character ofPanamacomes out particularly well. But, of course, that is completely up to you!

Despite its Mexican genes, this sandal model is stylistically reminiscent of the braided Panama hat, of course. However, we do not work with plant fibers, but instead with a single leather strap, which we cut by hand from a single hide before we can weave or braid it into an upper – which is, talking about a shoe,  the leather part that covers the instep. Quite similar to a loafer, come to that. To make the upper fit your foot, we use wooden lasts, and therefore we need to accurately capture the measurements of your feet.
